Why can’t you see me?
You came in, unannounced and unaware.
like a child running with scissors,
like a blackout,
like a bullet.
You made me worry for you, you made me care.
And all this while, you couldn’t see me.
I’d like to imagine you left because I’m strange,
or speak too quickly,
or am simply too human.
But I know that you pass me by without a second thought,
scissors sheathed,
generators repaired,
and in a puff of smoke.
Gone, unannounced and unaware.
